Joe Ciardiello: Ace of Hearts
Joe has been drawing for as long as he can remember, probably since the age of four. He was born and raised in Staten Island, NY just a short ferry ride to Manhattan where he attended The High School of Art and Design and then Parsons where he earned a BFA degree. A freelance illustrator since 1974, Joe has worked for most major magazines and newspapers as well as for corporate and advertising clients, book publishers and record companies.
Clients have included: American Express, Barnes & Noble, Capitol Records, ESPN, The New Yorker, The New York Times Book Review, The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, Rolling Stone, Smithsonian, Sports Illustrated, Time and the Wall Street Journal.
Among his awards are four silver medals from the Society of Illustrators. He has been profiled in Communication Arts Magazine as well as other graphic arts journals and he is included in Who’s Who in American Art. In 1999 Joe had a one-man exhibition of his work at the Society of Illustrators in New York and is included in their permanent collection. He is also among the illustrators represented in the recent Taschen book “100 Illustrators”.
A musician as well, Joe plays the drums regularly with a blues trio and an illustrator jazz group. He lives in Hunterdon County, New Jersey.
This country spends hundreds of billions of dollars annually on it’s military, yet seems unwilling to spend a fraction of that on the proper care of it’s veterans.
If we as a nation are willing to send our young men and women off to fight wars, then we also have an obligation to take care of them when they return home… often physically and mentally damaged.
